Comment by Beverly Isobel Ingo on March 31, 2012 at 4:54pm I am a bit of a clumsy amateur with this but I am trying my best to locate info on my great great grandfather's general store which was in Rat Portage in the 1890's. His name was William L. Baker and his wife's name was Isabella. I have found them in the 1901 census. I understand that the store burned down in a major fire in the late 1890's.
He also was a founder of the Presbyterian church in town. The congregation met in his living room. As well, he worked hard to establish the first public school on Hennypin Lane.
Any leads would be apprectiated. Thanks, Bev Ingo
